CO2 Reforming of CH4 Using Coke Oven Gas over Ni/MgO-Al2O3 Catalysts: Effect of the MgO:Al2O3 Ratio

Research is being actively conducted to improve the carbon deposition and sintering resistance of Ni-based catalysts. Among them, Al2O3-supported Ni catalyst has been broadly studied for dry reforming reaction due its high CH4 activity at beginning reaction. However, there a problem deactivation Ni/Al2O3 Ni, which catalytically active material. Supplementing MgO in can result an improved MgAl2O4 spinel structure basicity, be helpful activation methane dioxide molecules. In order confirm optimal supports’ ratio Ni/MgO-Al2O3 catalysts, catalysts were prepared by supporting after controlling MgO:Al2O3 stepwise, used CO2 (CDR) using coke oven gas (COG). The catalytic was 800 °C hourly space velocity (GHSV = 1,500,000 h−1) screen performance. (MgO:Al2O3 3:7) showed best performance between From this study, confirmed affect not only basicity but also dispersion reducing property surface.
